What do you think of the Acai Berry diet?
I keep seeing tons of adds for this diet, and I kind of have to wonder… if someone is eating healthy to begin with, will the acai berry diet actually work? Because half the time, if I read about a diet in a magazine, it tells me to do something that I’m already doing and I’ll lose weight. For example, often magazines say to eat more veggies. Well I eat almost all veggies. I’m a vegetarian.
I have a hunch that the reason the Acai Berry diet is supposed to be effective is because of the antioxidants. Only trouble is, I already eat tons of things that have antioxidants every day. I drink green tea, eat lots of fruit, lots of fiber, often eat mushrooms, etc. Therefore, I’m wondering if that diet would actually be helpful to someone like me.

Just more marketing hype. Every year it’s some new berry or plant that most people have never heard of that is supposed to be the next miracle pill. People need to stop buying into this garbage so the yearly process can come to and end.
I’m thinking next year the big thing will be unripened pumpkins.

All of the reliable and credible scientific literature done on acai is related to the antioxidant capacity and the oil composition of the berry. Companies promoting acai as a weight loss aid purposely conceal the contents of their product. They claim to provide a product in pill form that is acai. They fail to reveal what % of that pill is acai and whether it is made from freeze-dried or spray-dried powder. Acai does not possess the capacity to drive, create or stimulate weight loss. It is considered a superfood based on its nutritional profile. A superfood does not mean that it supports weight loss. The product being sold by this company does not work because it cannot work based on their claims.

Hey Joy,
I understand your hesitation, actually you remind me a lot of me.
If you’re already eating healthy, that’s great! and you are sure to have a head up on others that don’t already have a healthy diet.
BUT Acai is not like the other antioxidants that you eat. In fact experts are saying that acai has WAY more antioxidant power than blue berries and other dark berries.
You can definitely benefit from using acai berry, as long as you use the right kind.
There is a ton of ‘hype’ about acai berry right now and everyone would have you ‘believe’ that their acai is the best. But why believe them? I mean, they made the product so obviously they are going to say it’s the best to get you to buy, can you blame them?
Your best bet is to look for independent studies on acai berry, their benefits and their side effects and get an impartial view from people that are not profiting from the product.
